The idea of making gold slivovitz first came about as a result of the Jelínek brothers’ experience with brandy production, which they started in 1923 in collaboration with the French cognac maker Denis Mounié.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThe 10 years it spends ageing in oak casks give it its gold colour, an aroma close to that of cognac, and a harmonious fruity flavour with a distinctive woody undertone.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eOnly the highest-quality hand-harvested plums are used for production. This is followed by the triple distillation of a ripe plum mash under the supervision of a representative of the Jewish Orthodox Union. The spirit is then aged for ten years under carefully controlled conditions, in a range of temperatures and with alternating exposure to air, which affects the resulting colour, flavour, and aroma.
